Round 3
Round 3 and the sun was shining as our teams hit the pitch this weekend. Lots of great games out there happening, with the Sharks taking home the win in an epic battle against the GBFC Seasiders.
U7 Falcons
It was a glorious Southwest day for our first road trip to Dunsborough this year. The Falcons played a great game of soccer led by Finn and Owen. They defended and attacked brilliantly. Each week the team work of passing and calling to each other is improving as these Falcons get to know each other. A joy to watch the happiness on their faces.
U7 Ninja’s
Ninjas were excited for their first away game today at Dunsborough playing fields for round 3. With almost a full squad suited and booted we were blessed with our first sunny match and what a scorcher it was.
Both teams kicked off and first goal was scored in the first minute by Eli on one team with cheers from the other field after Leo Fucci put a goal in the back of the net for our other team. Both FMR teams pushed forward racking up the goals and passing like they’ve been playing for years. Clayton was on fire and Leo Gedge and Oliver couldn’t be matched with their speed.
Dunsborough Knights could just not penetrate our strong defence and just watched in awe as our players dominated the field. Henry scored his first hat-trick for the Ninjas with some swift footwork and a beast of a goal from the halfway mark! Stone putting 2 in the back of the net in his teams first half.
With every single Ninja scoring today the team pulled together in the final minutes and with a pass from Clayton over to Eli who passed to Brady who put his ball in the back of the net for his very first goal as a new Ninja and to finish the game as the final whistle blew. And the crowd went wild!!
Luke, Leo Fucci, and Vinnie were strong from start to finish with great passes and amazing sportsmanship. POD went to Henry for being absolutely on fire and really stepping it up this week, and for Brady who scored his first goal in the final minutes.
U8 Messi Kids
The Messi Kids were greeted with a perfect sunny morning and a dry pitch for their match against the Capel Wolves. With a full squad available, the team took advantage of regular rotations to keep fresh legs on the field. Malakai started in the goals, making several great saves and delivering powerful kick-outs to reset play. Teddy took over in the second half, holding strong between the posts.
Fast breaks from Ezra, Quinn, and Jack resulted in some fantastic attacking moments, with slick ball control leading to multiple goals across both halves. Clancy and Teddy stood firm in defence, sending booming kicks back into the attacking zone, while Max and Hunter rotated through the backline with some strong contests and clearances.
The girls showed incredible heart and determination - Elliana, Georgia, and Sunny brought great energy all over the field. Sunny sealed the match in style with an amazing goal on the final siren.
The team worked together brilliantly in the lovely conditions, showing strong communication, effort, and sportsmanship. Ezra was named Player of the Day after scoring a bundle of goals, backed by great support and passing from his teammates. Well done, Messi Kids!
U8 Magic
The Magic hit their stride in Round 3 with an exciting away game against the Cornerstone Comets. Under a sunny sky, the team embraced this week’s focus on being FAST, delivering one of their strongest and most dynamic performances yet.
We also welcomed a new teammate—Savannah—who made an incredible debut as this week’s team captain, showing strength, speed, and scoring a fantastic goal in her first game!
The whole team was firing with fast footwork and explosive moves through the centre. There were goals all round, with lots of first-time goals for some of the players—a huge effort and great reward for their hard work!
In goals, Mo and Lucas both stood tall, with Mo also making his mark in attack and scoring again. Mason and Zephyr were relentless in defence, constantly on the move and applying pressure. Remi showed great awareness, kicking smartly out of the defensive end to set up some beautiful team plays. It was a fast-paced, high-energy match full of teamwork, hustle, and standout moments across the field.
Player of the Day went to Clive, for his lightning-fast effort in both attack and defence chasing down opponents, breaking away with the ball, and never giving up. A brilliant performance to cap off a fantastic team game!
U9 Legends XI
Legends XI played a spectacular match, securing an impressive victory. Goal scorers Marley, Hutch, Delasi, and Knox displayed grit and perseverance throughout the game. The team continually improved as the match progressed, showing strong teamwork and determination. Player of the Day Delasi Seshie stood out with excellent ball control, smart defensive plays, and sharp attacking moves.
U9 Raptors
It was a beautiful sunny morning to see the Raptors take on the Cornerstone Colts in Busselton. It was a very tight first half with great passing and gameplay. Jay, Arlo and Jed were very strong in defence, with Nate and Coe sharing goal keeping duties, and as a result, the game was tied Nil all at halftime. After some oranges and an inspirational speech from the Coach, the game broke open in the second half. The Colts were quick to score after the break. Not long after, Torin found himself surrounded in the penalty box, but with his skill, took his chance to even up the scores. The Colts scored again before Nate got the ball in the back half, dribbled it past 3 to 4 defenders to score fantastic solo goal and open the floodgates. With some great teamwork and precise passing, Cohen scored 2 late goals to seal the game for the Raptors and take out player of the match alongside Nate. Thanks to Yahava coffee and the FMR canteen for the vouchers.
U9 Mavericks
The weather on Saturday was spectacular and Dunsborough were great hosts as DTFC Dragons took on FMR Mavericks. It was a great game and it was wonderful to see some great sportsmanship on the field. Finn Dawes from the Mavericks took the POD for his very impressive efforts in defence - congratulations!
U10 Wasps
The FMR U10 Wasps took on Capel in another entertaining encounter, filled with skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. With Capel a player short, Woody showed great spirit by joining their side to help balance the teams and keep the game flowing.
The Wasps put on a strong display, showcasing plenty of individual flair and solid team play. A standout performance came from John Mitchell, who was epic in goal with some crucial saves and even managed to get on the scoresheet with a well-taken goal in the second half.
Player of the Day went to Emily Bayley, who impressed everyone with her brilliant skill, tireless effort, and a well-deserved goal that capped off a fantastic all-round performance. A great game all round—well done, Wasps!
U10 Dragons
The FMR Dragons headed to Dunsborough for a second consecutive week, to face off against the Dunsborough Fire in what turned out to be both a tough and exciting match. Both teams showed great determination from the first whistle and the Fire really put the Dragons’ defence through their paces. Goalkeepers at both end of the pitch were diving and leaping for the ball, with a strong attack from both Dragons and Fire strikers. Both teams got a few goals on the board and it was a fair result from a well played game!
A big congratulations to John, our Player of the Day! John was a powerhouse, supporting his teammates with smart decisions and great effort throughout the match. Enjoy a free treat from the FMR Canteen at our home game next week!
U10 Serpents
Churchill Park was a tough battle under the sun. Up front, Thiago, Jonnie, Noah and Louis worked well together, firing shots at goal against a keeper who seemed unbeatable, but the Serpents never backed down. Jonnie even channeled his inner Cristiano Ronaldo with some heroic headers, reminiscent of the legend himself.
In goal, Raya showed fearless determination, making saves to keep the Serpents in the fight. Zephyr was unstoppable—his footwork, teamwork and relentless play made him a key force, earning him POD! Many thanks to ‘Two Cracks Coffee’ in Cowaramup for supporting the Club. Another great effort Serpents!
U11 Roos
Heading north to Capel the team had a great warm up to stretch their legs after a big drive. Coach Jay was really happy with the team passing to each other and starting to develop space on the pitch. Player of the day was Ivy enjoying a canteen voucher for our next home game, great assists out of the center.
U12 Breakers
The Breakers notched up their first win of the season in an even match against the Stars. Oscar found some form shooting a couple of goals to earn POD. Marshall took out POD for volunteering to be goalie in the second half.
U12 Stars
Player of the Day U12 Stars - Taj Cawse
What a fantastic derby game!! Great skills and wonderful friendships!
U12 Jettz
Round 3 was yet another opportunity for the Jettz to consolidate their cohesiveness as a team and to put into practice all of the skills and strategies they have been working on. It was great to see the team sharing the play, ensuring that each player had their moment to shine. They dominated in the forward line with some impressive conversions, with a special shout out to Mason for bagging FIVE goals! Special mention also to Rosa whose commitment to presenting at every opportunity resulted her in scoring her first goal for the Jettz and earning her Player of the Day.
The team also showed off their versatility in defence, rotating through three goalies who all demonstrated courage and commitment under pressure from the Dunsborough forwards, and Ronan’s epic save late in the second half was an absolute ripper!
Once again the Jettz girls represented strongly, holding their own in every passage of play and proving that they are a force to be reckoned with. Tyler’s dedication to the team saw her put her body on the line and sustain an injury which we all hope she recovers from quickly.
It truly is a privilege to watch the Jettz play. The respect that they have for each other and for their opponents; their sportsmanship and integrity; and their ability to work so tirelessly while still thoroughly enjoying themselves is inspiring.
U12 Legends
Today, the Legends travelled to Busselton for a tough match. The game was very tense, with both teams battling hard and the score sitting at 3-3 until the last 10 minutes. Busselton took advantage in last half scoring 4 more goals before the final whistle.
The defence had a tough challenge today, especially against Busselton’s strong number 7, but they stayed focused and worked hard under pressure.
Players of the Game: Koby and Sangay, for their solid performances and great effort throughout the match.
A special mention to the girls who stepped up and tried a new position as strikers, showing great determination. Also, well done to the strikers who took on midfield roles today, adapting and working hard for the team.
U13 Stingrays
With only 11 players on the pitch, we had to dig deep for our home fixture against Capel Wolves. Stingrays rode their luck as Capel went close several times. Another solid central defence display from Cayden Del Barrio and Amelie James-Martin and some great saves between the sticks from Archer Williams kept the score to 0-0 at half time.
The second half had a change to formation but instead of a tactical master plan, the change had the visitors go ahead with a neat goal when the Capel right winger strolled past the Stingrays left back and slotted past the helpless Archer. Stingrays rebounded and Bobby Atkins turned two defenders before launching a stinging drive into the back of the net. A couple of minutes later Stingrays were ahead when Bobby Atkins claimed a brace after pressing the defence and capitalising on a poor back pass out of defence by Capel.
It wasn’t long before Capel had drawn level before another run from deep in the Stingrays midfield had Bobby Atkins break through the Capel defence only to be brought down in the penalty area before getting a shot in. Bobby stepped up to take the penalty kick but couldn't capitalise on the opportunity.
Into the final 5 minutes Stingrays had looked the most likely to score, and with less than a minute to go Taj did well on the wing, he crossed a menacing ball in from the right which Ryder watched on in anguish as his shot was parried by the Capel keeper with a fine save, unable to smother the shot Oscar Atkins was on hand and reacted the fastest to smash the ball over the line for a 3-2 victory.
Credit to the Capel Wolves team who made the long trip to Margs and showed some great individual displays. A lucky escape for Stingrays with player of the day going to Oscar Atkins for stepping up and also bagging the winning goal.
U13 Wyverns
The Wyverns travelled to Barnard Park to play against the Busselton Bullets and had an intense match, resulting in a score of 3-3. It was mostly an even first half with Busselton scoring the opening goal from a free kick. Shortly after, Michael made it up with 2 quick goals to put the Wyverns in the lead, and the first half ended 1-2 to the Wyverns.
Wyverns kept possession for most of the second half with many shots on goal, but Busselton's goalkeeper was there and saved all the shots, keeping the score 1-2. Later in the second half, Busselton went on the counter to score 2 swift goals that got past the keeper. As all the Wyverns are panicking and are pushing their hardest to find a goal, Arturo scores a late equaliser with less than 5 minutes to go. Full time ends 3-3 with Banjo getting player of the match for his great playmaking and defending.
U14 Rockets
T’was a passionate David Vs Goliath battle in Vasse, against the Vasse Cobras! Within the first couple of minutes the Cobras flared their necks and popped one in the net but their venom wasn’t strong enough to weaken the mighty Rockets and they soon realised the skill level they were up against.
Austin constantly stayed on his “man” weaving in and around him like a mad Jack Russell terrorising a German Shepard, never giving him an inch and making life hard for him. Charlie was also getting amongst it talking on three cobras at a time at one stage. Monty copped a solid ‘hip n shoulder’ but his resilience prevailed and it only lit the fire in him for later.
Laec had his work cut in defence and went down briefly due to his foot, thankfully with the support of team mates he was back up and at em in jiffy. There was plenty near goals then finally the magic happened with Monty communicating clearly to the ever reliable Archie who then drove the ball from the left back position and proceeded pass to Monty, Monty to Charlie, Charlie to Albo and boom the Albatron nails it! Superb teamwork!
At this point the Rockets were pumped and wanting more, Dom was the recipient of some dodgy sheparding but he remained composed and almost landed another goal. Finally, a handball call went our way and Griffo got a penalty shot at goal, he implemented his ‘stall to fakie’ technique from training to perfection and nabbed it straight in!
At halftime the lads devoured their gourmet oranges and were given some sound advice from not only Coach Jay but also Captain Riley which really boosted team morale. After halftime Darcy came out blazing as always taking every opportunity to push the ball forward.
The Cobras somehow managed to level up scores with another goal, making it two all. Mylesy almost landed a few cracking goals on the run with some amazing cross kicks. The Rockets were applying pressure relentlessly anytime it entered the opposition half. Unfortunately the Cobras popped a sneaky one into goal resulting in a 3-2 score board.
The Rockets weren’t about to give up with Cody always in there providing some nice chip passes, allowing some run ons to goal attempts that didn’t quite convert. Oli was as reliable as brick wall as goalie and received player of the day. The lads played hard and as coach mentioned ‘to the whistle’. It was also great to see a new Rockets member, Flynn join the team.
U15 Tigers
The FMR Tigers faced off against a strong and coordinated Dunsborough Roar side in a challenging match that tested their teamwork and spirit. While the final score didn’t reflect the Tigers' effort, the game was full of heart, development, and standout moments.
First Half: The game kicked off with the Tigers’ offensive line—Levi, Emillie, Alex, and Arie—pushing forward with energy, looking to break through Dunsborough’s disciplined defence. Despite early chances, Dunsborough managed to strike first, netting three unanswered goals before halftime.
The Tigers’ midfield trio—Lucas, Fiona, and Ben—worked tirelessly to create space and link the play, while the back line of Piper, Mia, Charlie, and debutant Aylani showed determination under pressure.
Second Half: The second half saw Dunsborough continue their attacking dominance, scoring six more goals despite some heroic efforts in goal by Riley, who stepped up with a string of spectacular saves to keep the scoreline from climbing even higher.
The Tigers never lost their enthusiasm. Alex came close to pulling one back with a shot that just missed the target, while Arie impressed by covering large areas of the field, helping both in defence and attack. The team’s attitude remained positive, and their joy for the game was evident until the final whistle.
U15 Sharks
The Sharks snuck away with their first win of the season, playing against the GBFC Seasiders on our home turf. The match was so close, with some excellent football on both sides, as the teams traded goal for goal. Benj scored a whopping 5 goals, showcasing his individual skill and ability to deliver under pressure.
Vincent played a solid game in defence, his effort in goals in the second half was both crucial and match saving. The full team really all played so well, both Zane and Kelani had strong matches and created opportunities. Players of the match went to Mateja, Max and Sienna for their amazing efforts. And shout out to Rainer for a long-range strike that sealed the deal, the Sharks taking it home 6 goals to 5. What a nail biter! Thanks to FMR for the canteen voucher.
YL Blaze
Expectations were high for our first game at home for the season. Blaze has formed a cohesive unit with everyone out there being a team player. In defence we held strong with William, Kai and Digby not making it easy for the attack to break through and clearing the ball out when they did. Henry had an amazing game in goals. He is a great presence on the field and very skilled in thwarting the oppositions chances. Redbacks finally drew fist blood 20 mins in despite William and Kai literally throwing themselves at the ball. A penalty gave them their second.
Sonny is consistently super strong in the midfield, with Lisa and Scarlett holding their own. Caspian was a workhorse displaying great skills, and Sid is always a joy to watch with his footwork on show.
Charlie, Asha, Charlotte and Poom played well running down balls and creating opportunities, and Henry’s amazing punch that sent the ball skyrocketing kept the score at 0-3 to the Redbacks rightly earning him player of the day for his tireless efforts in goal and leading by example.
The score doesn’t reflect how well we played. We were fiercely competitive but despite some great passages of play, just couldn’t capitalise on our forward attempts. Our ball skills are on point and we are playing well as a team, so our time will come. The team can hold their heads high for never giving up or giving in.
YL Wanderers
Monday night’s game against the Development Squad was a proper contest, with both teams bringing high energy and intent from the first whistle. It was physical early on, with Saxon leading the charge through the middle, well supported by Taj who was everywhere.
At the back, Reef, Malik and Zane made life tough for the Dev Squad, shutting down most of their attacking plays and keeping them pinned in their own half for long stretches. That pressure eventually paid off — some sharp ball movement through the middle set up Ryder, who showed off some silky footwork before burying it bottom left from the top of the D. 1-0 to the Wanderers.
The second half saw the Dev Squad push hard, but the backline held strong again, giving the boys room to reset and take control. Stirling was marked tightly all game, managing just a few crosses from the right, while Bobby worked hard on the left to create chances. That hard work paid off again — another great ball in found Ryder in the box, and he finished with a cracking second goal.
Lucas was solid as always between the posts, leading with positive talk and keeping the clean sheet intact. Ollie backed him up with a top performance — classic brotherly connection. Ethan brought his usual class and composure, and Jay nearly added a third with a close chance that just missed.
A great 2-0 win for the lads — back-to-back victories and solid momentum heading into a big clash with Busso Redbacks this weekend!
